Brian & Kristin Teigen, Founders 21pathways

Hi, we’re Brian and Kristin

Founders

February 4, 2022, was both the best and the hardest day of their lives. It was the day Brian came home—after spending a week detoxing alone in a motel room in Bakersfield, CA—to finally come clean to Kristin about his long battle with heroin addiction. The confession brought betrayal, broken trust, and heartbreak. But it also opened a door: a chance to rebuild, this time with God at the center of their marriage.

The real work began immediately. Brian was still fighting through the grips of withdrawal, while Kristin was in her own battle—recovering from months of chemotherapy following a colon cancer diagnosis.

Over the next year, by the grace of God, they fought side by side to heal and rebuild what had been broken. One of the most powerful moments of their journey was being baptized together in the Jordan River in Israel—a symbol of their commitment to keep Christ at the heart of their relationship.

Out of their personal journey through recovery, 21pathways was born. It became a safe space for anyone impacted by addiction—those struggling, those in recovery, and the loved ones walking alongside them—to find hope, healing, and a community where no one has to walk alone.

Our Purpose

The 21pathways Leadership

Quentin Canales

Quentin Canales

Director of 21pathways

I have been on a journey of sobriety for the past 3 ½ years. Throughout this time, I’ve developed a deep and personal relationship with God, which has become the cornerstone of my recovery and my daily life. This connection gives me strength, clarity, and a sense of purpose that guides my actions and decisions.

Being of service is something I hold close to my heart. Whether it’s through supporting others in their own recovery journeys, or simply being present for someone in need, I believe that giving back is one of the most meaningful ways we can grow and heal. Service has not only kept me grounded but has also filled my life with joy, connection, and fulfillment.

Leadership Chair

After struggling with alcoholism and addiction my entire adult life, through God’s grace I have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind, body and spirit. My recovery journey started in treatment, followed by twelve step programs and finding community. Today, 21pathways is a pillar in my recovery due to the open discussion of God, the twelve steps and the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Leadership Chair

I’m Stevie, an alcoholic/addict. My sober date is February 5, 2024. I have three beautiful daughters: Marley, Maylea, and Macyn. They are my world and my WHY! I love being in recovery, it has shown me how to be and love myself. I also work in recovery and have found that helping people who have been through what I have been through gives me purpose.

Tony Reynish, 21pathways leadership team

Tony Reynish

Leadership Chair

After first seeking sobriety in 1993, I spent over two decades caught in the cycle of addiction, searching for a way out. In 2016, I was led to Alcoholics Anonymous, where I experienced a profound spiritual awakening through the 12 steps and a deep connection with a higher power. That journey has completely transformed my life. Today, I remain active in both Alcoholics Anonymous and Heroin Anonymous, walking a path of recovery, faith, and service.
